CÉREBRO | BRAINS draws on the singular spatial poetics of renowned Portuguese sculptor Miguel Palma to create an interactive set of sculptures inspired by machine mechanic brains. BRAINS is an ongoing project based on the possible spatial settings and articulations of wooden portable sculptural devices in the natural landscape. Thought as pieces of an expanded labyrinth, the project invites the audience to playfully engage with the objects in different territories, creating the references and parameters of their distribution throughout the surrounding environment.

CÉREBRO | BRAINS is part of the installation and performance collection, Covered by Sky. Conceived by the Brazilian artist Gustavo Ciríaco, the collection translates remarkable experiences of landscape that influenced the spatial poetics of a group of outstanding Portuguese and South American artists. By delving into the experiences of these artists, Ciríaco proposes a reflection on how spatial poetics involve cultural and geographical backgrounds.

CÉREBRO | BRAINS is a collaboration with architects Hugo Reis, Filipa Frois and António Lasalvia, from FAHR 012.3, a creative and experimental studio that (de)focuses its work between Art and Architecture.

CÉREBRO | BRAINS (Cobertos pelo Céu / A Terra a quem a imagina) is one of the 45 projects supported by the ‘Art for Democracy’ program, an initiative of the Commission for the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the 25th of April in partnership with the Directorate-General for the Arts.
